One-seg
One-seg, also known as 'One-segment' terrestrial digital broadcasting, is a system for terrestrial digital broadcasting for mobile phones in Japan. Service began on April 1, 2006. Terrestrial digital broadcasting in Japan uses a format of 13 frequency bands per channel. Only one of those bands, which are called 'segments', is used for broadcasting in this system. Video is transmitted in the H.264 (MPEG-4 AVC) format at QVGA (320 x 240 pixels) resolution. For now, simultaneous broadcasting of the same programs as for ordinary terrestrial broadcasting is being done.
