PDC
Personal Digital Cellular is a Japanese domestic 2G standard for digital cellular networks. PDC is used nationwide by Japanese mobile carriers, except au group, which introduced cdmaOne standard. PDC uses Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) technology, which allows to divide a radio frequency into time slots and then allocate slots to multiple calls. In this way, a single frequency can support 3 simultaneous data channels in case of full-rate, and 6 channels in case of half-rate. Full-rate codec is VSELP (bandwidth - 6.7kbit/sec + 4.5kbit/sec for error-correction) and half-rate codec is PSI-CELP(bandwidth - 5.6kbit/sec + 3.45 or 2.15kbit/sec for error-correction).
