XHTML Basic
XHTML Basic is a smaller version of XHTML 1.0, suitable for mobile devices with little memory. It addresses the need to view Web pages on devices ranging from soda machines to third-generation cell phones. XHTML Basic will be understood by both WAP and i-mode devices and will be a universal markup language. Although XHTML Basic is seen as the future for the mobile Web, it does not mean the end of WML. While the newly-approved standard addresses how Web content is displayed, it does not handle the actions unique to mobile phones, such as dialing.
